So,
I've just returned from my friend's house in New York. I got to spend the last 6 days there, and it was good.
Among the things I learned:
Wow, I should have checked out Firefly long ago. It really is as good as everyone says. And as an avouched Buffy/Angel fan, the oversight on my part is unforgivable.
Alton Brown knows a thing or two about making a good Martini. Too much Vermouth has always been a problem with my mixes. I also had my fair share of gin-based, rather then vodka-based martinis over this week.

My friend and I also bought a couple tins of the Pirates game from WizKids games. Aside from having a couple masts break during construction, it was a fun game -- it was more involved then we initially thought. I hope to play it much more in the coming year.
We had some other mis-adventures, including a trip to Niagra to see what the casinos are all about, and in general, lots of goofing off. Just what the doctor ordered.
