So I've had a couple days off to recharge before the second half of the school year starts, and I'm getting a chance to revisit hobbies and stuff I had almost completely not touched since....October?
The crew has delved back into the lands of Azeroth. This time around, I'm trying out a Tauren Druid named Skyhoof. He's at a whopping 16th level, but it's been fun. Being a big 'ol bear is nifty. I don't know how long it will hold my interest, even with the expansion hitting in a couple weeks, but we'll see.
I've had time to read, and I've used some of that time to check out some D&D stuff (yes, flashing the geek card here, folks) in an attempt to learn more before trying to run "The Campagin That Will Never Be." I don't know why, exactly, but I find all of it a lot more appealing then I did just a year or two ago. Perhaps because it is really something you have to use your imagination with, rather then have put in front of you, like World of Warcraft. I don't know. I may spend hours reading about things I may never get to use in a game, but I feel I accomplished more then if I was playing WoW for that same amount of time.
What has really taken up some time is my new computer. After fighting my aging desktop for a while, I bought something new. And I switched.Yes, I'm now the proud owner of a 20" iMac. I had a Mac right after high school, and sadly, it was a lemon from the start (never buy a floor model...ever.) It was a real shame, because I loved Macs in my graphics classes. Now, nearly ten years later, I have another one. So far, its been good times.
Lastly, only because it is most recent, my sister got me a really nice book on Charles M. Schulz of Peanuts fame for Christmas. Peanuts was a big part of my youth, and seeing those cartoons really takes me back. It's a wonderful gift.
Gen Con last weekend was a good time. Unfortunately, I've been busy with plenty in "the real world" since I've been back. Here are some pics:
Here's a picture of some of the World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade kiosks.
I know some of you would have loved for me to play as the new races and report back, but it just wasn't a priority. I tend to spend cons like this exploring entirely new stuff, or things I haven't checked out for some time. This year, I really got into Dungeons and Dragons again. I have no idea why. It's just what "clicked" for me this time around.
Gotta love cards put to good use:
And here's a Gen Con staple; a virtual sea of dice:
Hopefully I'll make it back next year!
